· The Skill Trees
SEVEN SKILLS. ONE KINDNESS.
Each Prism is a kindness discipline — a skill tree grounded in behavioral science. They draw from VIA Character Strengths, Goleman's Emotional Intelligence framework, and CASEL's Social Emotional Learning model.
Level up all seven. Evolve your Eno. Push back the Static.
The Sun-Caller
GRATITUDE
VIA Character Strength: Gratitude + Appreciation of Beauty
Gratitude is the foundation. It rewires your brain to notice abundance over scarcity, and trains you to acknowledge the people and moments that make your life possible. Sun-Callers don't wait for good things to happen — they find them everywhere they look.
Example Quests
- Write a thank-you note to someone who shaped you
- Tell your server one specific thing you appreciated about their service
- Send an unprompted compliment to someone in your life
- Notice three beautiful things on your commute and name them
The Mirror-Heart
EMPATHY
VIA Character Strength: Kindness + Social Intelligence
Empathy is the act of inhabiting another person's experience — not just sympathizing, but actually stepping into their world. Mirror-Hearts are the rare people who make you feel truly heard. They ask better questions. They sit with discomfort. They don't rush to fix.
Example Quests
- Ask someone how they're really doing — then listen without giving advice
- Walk one block in someone else's shoes: choose a stranger and imagine their day
- Reach out to someone who is grieving, without trying to make it better
- Validate someone's frustration before offering a solution
The Stone-Keeper
PATIENCE
VIA Character Strength: Self-Regulation + Prudence
Patience is not passive waiting — it's active choice. Stone-Keepers know that the most powerful thing you can do in a difficult moment is pause. They absorb pressure without transferring it. They are the calm that other people borrow in a storm.
Example Quests
- Let someone finish speaking before you respond — fully, completely
- Wait in a long line without checking your phone
- Respond to a frustrating message 24 hours later, with kindness
- Let someone go first three times today without mentioning it
The Golden-Hand
GENEROSITY
VIA Character Strength: Generosity + Love
Generosity goes beyond money. It's time, attention, energy, and the willingness to give before you're asked. Golden-Hands give without keeping score. They tip beyond expectation. They show up. They share the credit. They make the people around them feel like there's enough.
Example Quests
- Pay for a stranger's meal or coffee anonymously
- Give 30 minutes of your undivided attention to someone who needs it
- Leave a tip that makes someone's day instead of their hour
- Share something valuable — knowledge, a connection, an opportunity — with no strings attached
The Torch-Bearer
BRAVERY
VIA Character Strength: Bravery + Valor
Kindness requires courage. Torch-Bearers do the uncomfortable things — they stand up for the person being talked over, they say the hard truth with care, they apologize first. They know that the world gets better the moment someone decides not to look away.
Example Quests
- Speak up for someone who is being dismissed or talked over
- Apologize to someone you've wronged, without making excuses
- Compliment a stranger out loud, in public, for something specific
- Defend someone's reputation in a conversation where it would be easier not to
The Clear-Eye
AWARENESS
VIA Character Strength: Perspective + Judgment
Awareness is noticing what others miss. Clear-Eyes see the person behind the behavior, the need beneath the ask, the struggle that isn't being advertised. They read the room. They catch the moment. They act before they have to be asked.
Example Quests
- Notice someone who looks like they're having a hard day — do something about it
- Pick up litter on your block, without posting about it
- Check in on a friend you haven't heard from in a while
- Acknowledge the person in the room who isn't being acknowledged
The Soft-Shield
FORGIVENESS
VIA Character Strength: Forgiveness + Mercy
Forgiveness is the hardest prism, and the most powerful. Soft-Shields know that holding a grudge is carrying weight that belongs to someone else. Forgiveness isn't forgetting or excusing — it's choosing your own peace over someone else's debt. It changes the forgiver more than the forgiven.
Example Quests
- Let go of a minor frustration today — don't mention it again
- Write a letter to someone you haven't forgiven (you don't have to send it)
- Give someone the benefit of the doubt in a situation where you usually wouldn't
- Reconnect with someone you've been distant from due to an old wound
